Twenty Things I Love About Being a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator

I love being a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator!  It has been such a blessing in my life.  Here are 20 things that make me glad I joined back in 1998.

1. The Stamps.

I guess that is a given 😉  There are just so many awesome stamps.  Every time a new catalog comes out I wonder if they are going to continue to have stamps that make me say “wow.” And they do….every single time.

2. Big Shot.

I loved making cards before the Big Shot was introduced but it is so much easier since I got it!  I would be lost without it!

3. Designer Series Paper.

I absolutely love all of our DSP.  I can’t get enough of it.  I have been collecting it for years.

4. The People.

I have met so many wonderful people because of SU! and have made amazing friends.  I am so blessed to have lifelong friends all because I joined SU!

5. Travel.

I haven’t earned an incentive trip yet but I have traveled several places to go to SU! events that were so much fun.  One year, 8 of us drove to Salt Lake to go to a convention.  We rented a house together and had a blast.  I’ve been to Florida, Ohio, Nevada, Colorado & Kentucky to stamping events.  I’ve probably forgotten a few places too.

6. The Color Coordination.

I am not great at figuring out what colors look good together so I think it is wonderful that I can get cardstock, ribbon, designer series paper, ink, etc. that coordinate so well together.

7. Free Products.

As a demonstrator, I can earn free products on different occasions.  And who doesn’t love free!?

8. Getting Paid to Have Fun.

I love to craft and create and I get paid to do it!  It doesn’t get much better than that.

9. Admiration.

I love it when people comment on what I make!  Does that make me shallow?

10. Demonstrator Support.

Demonstrator support is a group of people at Home Office who are there to help demonstrators if there is a problem.  I haven’t had to contact them very often but they have been so helpful and friendly whenever I need to call or email them.

11. Other Demonstrators.

I have met so many fellow demonstrators who are so supportive.  It isn’t true for everyone, but it seems like most of them like to help and support other demos.  With some companies, it seems like everyone is out for themselves but most demonstrators I have met through are great!

12. Unique Cards.

I love that I can make cards that are one of a kind.  If you buy a card you know that they made thousands of them that are exactly the same.  But if you want to send a card that is unique, you can make it yourself.  Of course, it is possible to make lots of cards with the same design if you want to, but they are still different from the ones you buy in a store.

13. Creativity.

I love being creative with my friends

14. Satisfaction

I love the satisfaction I get when I teach someone how to make a pretty card.  Especially when they said that they couldn’t do it!

15. Fun.

This one covers a lot of areas.  I hang out with fun people, I make fun projects and I go fun places!

16. Sharing.

Stampin’ Up has a Statement of the Heart which is “To love what we do and share what we love, as we help others enjoy creativity and worthwhile accomplishments … in this, we make a difference”.  I love what I do and I love sharing it with others.

17. Smiles.

I love the smiles when people receive a card or other project I have given them (or another creative person has given them).

18. Laughter

Whenever I am with other stampers there is going to be laughter!  We haven’t done it for awhile but we have had overnight stamping events before.  The more time we spend together the more laughter there is!  The more tired we become, the more we laugh.

19. Versatility

I make a lot of cards but that isn’t the only thing to make.  When my kids were still in school, I always made gifts for their teachers using my stamps, paper etc. I’ve made gifts for other people too. Some of the items that I remember include Birthday Calendars, stationery sets, Post-It Note holders, candy/treat holders, candles, magnetic tic-tac-toe games, and banners.  I’ve stamped on t-shirts, luggage, scarves and baby onesies. My motto is “if it doesn’t move, stamp it”.  If it does move, stamp faster!

20.  Learning

I also love learning new things and I have learned a lot since I signed up 20 years ago.  I have learned lots of different techniques and different types of cards.  I have learned to go beyond my fear of new situations.  I also learned that it is hard to describe some of these things that I love!  😉

I love Stampin’ Up and can’t wait to see what is in store next!

Happy Stamping,
